Forty five financial members and Secretariat of the Advancing PNG: Women Leaders Network Inc. (APNGWLN), representing 18 provinces and over 80 community organizations, have convened in Port Moresby for a week of intensive training and meetings starting today Monday 20th April, 2026.
Representing 18 provinces and over 80 community-based organizations, the women leaders will address national issues, concluding the week with the network’s 5th Biennial General Meeting (BGM) on Thursday, 23rd April 2026.

A major highlight of the summit is a full-day Trainer-of-Trainers (TOT) workshop facilitated by the Community Coalition Against Corruption (CCAC).
Building on the network’s extensive experience in Local Level Government (LLG) and National Election observations, this training will help women leaders lead voter education and civic awareness campaigns in rural communities ahead of the 2027 National Elections.

The week also marks a significant milestone for rural economic growth with the launch of Round 2 of the Rural Value-Adding Small Grants.

Following the successful implementation of the first round, applications for this new phase will open immediately after the launch, providing community-led rural initiatives with the resources needed to scale their activities.
This initiative, alongside the establishment of Provincial Hubs, is made possible through long-term partnerships with Bread for the World and the The Old Dart Foundation.

The APNGWLN journey is a testament to a legacy that began in 2006, when ExxonMobil‘s Global Women in Management (GWIM) program first included Papua New Guinean participants.

The consistent growth of this alumni group led to the formal establishment of the network, which today unites 70 GWIM members nationwide.

APNGWLN acknowledges the vital support of ExxonMobil PNG, Bread for the World, and the Old Dart Foundation in making the week’s event possible.
