The Supreme Law of Our Nation

The Constitution is the voice of the people of Papua New Guinea. It belongs to you. This guide simplifies the 5 National Goals, our Fundamental Rights, and laws that protect our families, making them easier for every citizen to understand and claim.

The 5 National Goals

The blueprint for how our country should develop.

1

Integral Human Development

Every person should be free from all forms of oppression and have the chance to develop their full potential.

2

Equality & Participation

All citizens should have equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from the development of our country.

3

National Sovereignty & Self-Reliance

PNG should be politically and economically independent, and our economy should be controlled by PNG citizens.

4

Natural Resources & Environment

Our natural resources and environment should be conserved and used for the benefit of us all and future generations.

5

Papua New Guinean Ways

We should achieve development primarily through the use of Papua New Guinean forms of social and political organization.

"These goals are the foundation upon which all our laws are built."

Fundamental Rights
