Every person should be free from all forms of oppression and have the chance to develop their full potential.
Equality & Participation
All citizens should have equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from the development of our country.
National Sovereignty & Self-Reliance
PNG should be politically and economically independent, and our economy should be controlled by PNG citizens.
Natural Resources & Environment
Our natural resources and environment should be conserved and used for the benefit of us all and future generations.
Papua New Guinean Ways
We should achieve development primarily through the use of Papua New Guinean forms of social and political organization.

Fundamental Rights
The Constitution guarantees certain "Basic Rights" to all people. Some can never be taken away, while others can only be restricted for public safety or health.

Family Protection Act 2013
Violence in the home is a crime. This law was created to provide for protection orders and the punishment of offenders in domestic violence cases.
Interim Protection Orders (IPO)
Can be issued by a magistrate to stop someone from committing violence against you immediately.
Police Responsibility
The police MUST investigate reports of domestic violence and assist victims in getting to safety.
